Claim

Video of Pakistan Army soldier crying about fighting India amid Pahalgam
 tensions

Rating Justification

The iVerify Pakistan team reviewed this content and determined that it is
 false.

To reach this conclusion, the iVerify Pakistan team conducted a reverse image
search of the video to trace its original timeline and context.

Posts from Indian users on X on April 30, 2025, shared an alleged video of a
Pakistan Army soldier crying and claiming that he was being forced to get
involved in a war with India amid the recent Pahalgam tensions. However, the
clip is at least as old as September 2024 and shows the soldier laughing.

Relations between Pakistan and India turned exceedingly sour since an attack
took place in Pahalgam, a tourist hotspot in India-occupied Kashmir that draws
thousands of visitors every summer, on April 22. Gunmen opened fire on
visitors, killing at least 26 people — all men from across India except one
from Nepal — and injuring 17 others. Following the attack, India, without
providing evidence, implied that attackers had links to Pakistan, an
 allegation that Islamabad vehemently refuted.

The incident led to a severe downgrading of ties between the two countries.
Since then, the Indian mainstream and social media outlets have been spreading
 propaganda against Pakistan.

HOW IT STARTED

On April 30, a user on X, who is an Indian according to their bio and past
posts, shared a video of a man in Pakistan Army’s uniform sitting in a
 plane.

In the clip, he is covering his face while bending down, making it seem like
he’s crying. The caption o the post said, “Video coming from Pakistan. A
Pakistan army officer was captured on camera crying as he refused to be
involved in war with India but General Asif Munir forced Pakistani soldiers.
As per the soldier ‘Pakistan Government and Asif Munir is corrupt.’”

The video gained 1.4 million views and was shared 2,400 times.

The footage was also shared by other X accounts with the same caption here, here and here.

METHODOLOGY

A fact check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due its
high virality and significant public interest in the Pakistan-India tensions
 after the Palgham attack.

A reverse image search of the video yielded a Facebook video, dated September 2, 2024, on a page named ‘’Pak
 Army”.

The caption of the video said, “This is probably our brother’s first time on
a flight … The plane is shaking due to air pockets and the brother can’t stop
 laughing.”

In the version shared by the Indian user, the soldier could only be seen
covering his face whereas in the uncut and longer version on the Facebook
page, the soldier’s face was visible and he could be seen smiling and laughing
as the plane experienced turbulence, not crying.

FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE

The claim that a viral video shows a Pakistan Army soldier crying at the
prospect of fighting India amid recent tensions is false.

The video is at least as old as September 2024 and not only unrelated to the
recent tensions but also shows the soldier laughing, not crying.
