To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted a reverse image search and keyword analysis to corroborate the visuals.

Posts from multiple users, including pro-PTI accounts, on social media platform X on October 26, 2025, shared a video claiming to show a protest in Kuala Lumpur against United States President Donald Trump’s visit to Malaysia. However, the video is old and does not show an anti-Trump protest.

Trump visited Kuala Lumpur on Oct 26 to attend the 47th ASEAN summit, where he oversaw the signing of a ceasefire deal between Cambodia and Thailand and announced a number of trade deals. Hundreds gathered to record a protest against the US president’s attendance at the summit.

HOW IT STARTED

On Oct 26, digital journalist Razi Tahir shared a video of a protest on X.

The caption of the post said: “Historical protest in Malaysia’s city of Kuala Lumpur upon Trump’s arrival, thousands of people chanted ‘Trump, get lost’. The interesting thing is that the Malaysian government did not baton-charge the protesters but allowed the peaceful demonstration”.

The post gained 117,000 views.

The same video with a similar claim was shared by different pro-PTI accounts on social X, as can be seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here; collectively gaining more then 63,000 views.

The video with same claim was also shared by other international users on X as can be seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here; collectively gaining more than 80,000 views.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its high virality and keen public interest in the matter.

A reverse image search for the video yielded the same video shared by multiple users on Oct 28, 2023, on social media platform TikTok, with the context of a Palestinian solidarity protest in Kuala Lumpur, as can be seen here and here.

Similarly, the same video with a similar claim was shared by multiple pro-Palestinian accounts on X the same date as can be seen here, here and here.

A keyword conducted to corroborate whether any such protest happened yielded visuals and news articles by international and Malaysian news agencies such as Reuters, Reuters Connect, Malaymail and Malaysia Now on the same date.

As per the reports, hundreds of Malaysians gathered outside the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 28, 2023, waving Palestinian flags and chanting for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The demonstrators, including civil society groups and students, urged the US to stop supporting Israel’s military actions and called for global solidarity with Palestinians.
