CLAIM

Viral video of AJK protesters faking injuries and blood by covering themselves with red colour

RATING JUSTIFICATION

The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is false.

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted a reverse image and keyword search to trace the origin of the viral video and contacted the person in frame to further corroborate it.

Multiple people across social media platforms, including accounts that appear to be pro-PML-N and anti-military based on past posts, have been sharing a video since June 9, 2026, claiming it shows protesters in Azad Jammu and Kashmir allegedly covering themselves in fake blood to fake injuries. However, the video shows nothing of the sort.

The government of AJK on June 5, 2026, declared the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) a proscribed organisation and placed it under the First Schedule of the region’s anti-terrorism act. In response, JAAC observed a shutdown and wheel-jam strike.

On June 6, 2026, authorities in AJK launched a crackdown on the proscribed JAAC, arresting scores of its leaders and activists from different areas. The region has since witnessed unrest with clashes between protesters and security forces that have led to deaths and injuries, with each side blaming the other.

HOW IT STARTED

On June 9, an account that appears to be pro-military, based on its profile picture and past posts, shared a video on X, allegedly showing AJK protesters preplanning injuries and blood by putting on makeup.

The caption of the post read: “Awami Action Committee’s fake video production house video. Awami Action Committee is enemy of the people of Kashmir. Doing makeup to show the injured and dead. Pathetic people.”

The post gained 53,300 views.

An account that appears to be pro-PML-N, based on its past posts, shared the same video with the following caption: “Alongside Indian funding, the Joint Action Committee is also being directed in theatrical antics from Bollywood’s side by India, but the incompetents have tarnished Bollywood’s name itself by using the most ham-fisted acting and shoddy colours.”

It garnered 49,500 views.

Another pro-PMLN account posted the same clip with the following caption: “These are all the children of that dancer whom the PTI folks were showing as severely injured and dead. After the video is complete, these corpses are heading home to wash off their makeup. God forbid that those who support these traitors should feel even a shred of shame. The terrifying face of the banned Action Committee has started to come to light.”

The post attracted 41,000 views.

The same clip was shared with a similar context on Facebook and YouTube, as can be seen here, and here; on X, as seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here; collectively accumulating 28,000 views.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its high virality and keen public interest in the civil unrest in Kashmir.

A reverse image search, conducted to trace the source of the footage, yielded the same video shared on May 29, 2026, prior to the Kashmir protests, by a Pakistani footballer on TikTok with the hashtag in the caption “on this day”.

The user did not provide any background details of the video, and it was shared without any reference to Kashmir protests, Pakistan Rangers, police action, or deaths.

Multiple users commented phrases such as “colour hai”, indicating that the red stains visible on the clothes appeared to be paint or colour rather than blood.

A visual examination of the video also showed that the individuals in the bus did not appear injured, unconscious, or physically harmed. No visible wounds, bruises, blood flow, signs of distress, or emergency medical treatment could be observed in the footage. Several individuals appeared smiling and stable while sitting inside the bus.

A reverse image search of the individual appearing in the viral video and in several other posts shared by the same TikTok account yielded a Facebook page associated with the Dilawar Shaheed Khan Football Club in Swat.

The club appears to be an active football organisation in Swat and is registered with the Pakistan Football Federation.

iVerify Pakistan contacted Kareemullah for clarification, who stated that he is currently an employee of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) at Swat airport and that the footage was recorded after a drill was conducted at Swat Airport as part of an annual fire and emergency response exercise. According to him, the red stains visible in the video were simulated injuries using red colour for training purposes.

A review of the TikTok profile that originally shared the video revealed another similar clip, which shows individuals wearing similar clothes with red stains and they can be seen alongside Rescue 1122 personnel.

The words “Swat” and “CAA” are also visible on a wall in the background, further confirming that the footage was filmed during a training exercise conducted at Swat airport by the CAA rather than the Kashmir protests.

Kareemullah subsequently posted a clarification video on TikTok, stating that the footage had nothing to do with AJK and that the individuals seen in the video had applied red colouring as part of a training exercise.

The video not only predates the current protests in AJK but is also entirely unrelated to the situation. It shows participants after a fire safety exercise at Swat airport.

A reverse image search of the individual appearing in the viral video and in several other posts shared by the same TikTok account yielded a Facebook page associated with the Dilawar Shaheed Khan Football Club in Swat.

iVerify Pakistan contacted Kareemullah for clarification, who stated that he is currently an employee of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) at Swat airport and that the footage was recorded after a drill was conducted at Swat Airport as part of an annual fire and emergency response exercise.

FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE

The claim that a viral clip shows AJK protesters faking injuries and blood by putting on makeup is false.

The video not only predates the current protests in AJK but is also entirely unrelated to the situation. It shows participants after a fire safety exercise at Swat airport.
