Viral video does not show AJK PM admitting involvement in Pahalgam attack

Claim

Viral video of AJK PM admitting his involvement in Pahalgam attack

Rating Justification

The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is
 false.

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted a reverse image search
 to find the original video.

Posts from Indian users on social media platforms since April 24, 2025,
shared a video, claiming it showed Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister
Chaudhry Anwarul Haq admitting his involvement in the Pahalgam attack.
However, the video is from April 9 and has no connection to the Pahalgam
 attack.

On April 22, a terror attack occurred in Pahalgam in India-held Kashmir,
leaving over 25 tourists dead and heightening tensions between India and
Pakistan. India accused Pakistan of links to the assault, prompting drastic
measures such as suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and closing the Attari
 border.

HOW IT STARTED

The iVerify Pakistan team was alerted on April 24 about an X post and
 requested authentication for the content.

On April 24, an Indian X account shared a video clip
claiming that the AJK prime minister admitted to his involvement in the
 Pahalgam attack.

The caption of the post said: “Breaking: Pakistan finally admits its hand in
the Pahalgam attack. Puppet PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) PM Chaudhry
Anwarul Haq openly threatens: ‘Celebrate Holi in Balochistan, and we’ll strike
from Delhi to PoK.’ Backing terrorists as ‘mujahideen’ is not resistance —
 it’s state-sponsored terror.”

The transcript of the clip is provided below:

“I want to say this in clear terms — this will have to be paid for in blood.
If you play Holi with the blood of Pakistanis in Balochistan, you will have to
pay the price from Delhi all the way to Kashmir. As for the role of the
Kashmiri mujahideen — they have contributed in the past, and God willing, they
will continue to do so with full courage. Do whatever you’re capable of.”

The post was viewed by more than 1.1 million people.

The same video was shared by other users on X as can be seen here and here.

The same claim was also shared on social media platform Instagram, where one such post received over 2,000
 likes.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of claim due to its high
virality, keen public interest in the matter of Kashmir and India, and to
satisfy the public request seeking authentication of the claim.

A reverse image search conducted to trace the origin of the video clip led to
 a YouTube video uploaded on
April 9, 2025, by Pakistani news outlet Aaj TV titled “PM of Azad
 Kashmir’s speech at Kashmir Conference.”

The speech was delivered during a Kashmir Conference held on April 9 — two
weeks before the Pahalgam attack, which took place on April 22. This timeline
confirms that the video predates the incident and is not connected to it.

A review of the full video showed that the AJK premier made no reference to
Pahalgam during his speech. His remarks focused on broader political rhetoric
concerning the situation in Balochistan and the role of Kashmiri freedom
 fighters.

FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE

The claim that a video shows the AJK prime minister that he admitted to
involvement in the Pahalgam attack is false.

The viral clip is almost two weeks older than the incident and the AJK
 premier said no such thing.
