Viral video of PTI’s Sanam Javed distributing sweets to children while exposing herself

Posts from multiple users and PML-N supporters on social media platform X on September 1, 2025, shared a video that allegedly showed PTI’s Sanam Javed distributing sweets to children, with some insinuating that she was exposing her cleavage in the clip. However, the video is doctored.

Javed was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail in July after the Lahore High Court issued an order in her favour in a case registered under charges of inciting unrest and raising anti-state slogans.

She was taken into custody along with her husband, Professor Atiq, by police on April 27, 2025. The arrest occurred shortly after she appeared for a court hearing related to the May 9, 2023, rioting cases.

HOW IT STARTED

On Sept 1, an X account, which seemed to be a PML-N supporter based on previous posts, shared a video allegedly showing Javed bending down to give sweets to children while showing cleavage.

The caption of the post said: “Is Sanam Javed’s video of distributing sweets real?”

The post quickly gained 111,000 views and nearly 1,000 likes.

A similar video was also shared by another PML-N supporter with the caption saying that the PTI activist was deliberately exposing her cleavage. The post gathered 90,700 views and was shared 200 times.

The video was shared by other accounts on X as well, as can be seen here, here and here.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality, increasing circulation and to address the harm that such videos can cause.

Observing the video showed subtle inconsistencies, such as irregular eye movements and facial blending, that are common in deepfake videos.

Running the video on several AI detection tools showed that it was digitally manipulated. According to Attestiv, the clip was “very suspicious” with a technical suspicion rating of 78 per cent.

Similarly, FaceOnLive showed a 99pc likelihood of face manipulation in the video. Decopy AI also flagged the clip to have a 99.9pc probability of being AI-generated.

A reverse image search yielded a video that featured Indian blogger Muskan Karia and showed it to be the same as the circulating clip. While the video could not be found on her social media account, analysing the clip showed that it showed Karia and not Javed.

The video was circulated by several Indian accounts on social media since August 31, as can be seen here and here.

Checking Karia’s Instagram account yielded a video dated September 2, 2025, that showed her in the same outfit as seen in the video circulating online. Her account featured older posts from July as well that showed her in the same dress.

FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE

The claim that a viral video shows PTI’s Sanam Javed distributing sweets to children while displaying cleavage is false.

The video is a deepfake and actually features an Indian blogger.
