Viral image of billboard with army chief, PM Shehbaz among Netanyahu, Muslim leaders as part of new ‘Abraham Alliance’

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted a reverse image search and a keyword search for the original image.

Post from multiple users on social media platforms since October 4, 2025, shared an image of a billboard allegedly in Pakistan showing Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and other Muslim leaders with the title “The Abraham Alliance”. However, the image is doctored.

The Abraham Accords, signed in 2020, led to the normalisation of relations between Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco, with the Trump administration playing a key role. These agreements focused on economic cooperation, security, and cultural exchanges, reshaping regional dynamics and offering a pathway to broader Middle East peace.

Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan proposed a two-state solution but faced backlash for favouring Israeli interests, especially over Jerusalem. Palestinian leaders rejected the plan, citing its imbalance. PM Shehbaz initially welcomed the plan but government officials later distanced themselves from it, saying it was different from the draft decided by Muslim countries.

HOW IT STARTED

On Oct 3, a user, who appears to be a PTI supporter based upon his previous posts, shared an image on X of a billboard with the army chief and PM Shehbaz along with Netanyahu and other Muslim leaders.

The post was captioned as “DHA Lahore” and gained 71,900 views.

The same image was widely shared by other users on X as can be seen here, here, here and here, collectively gaining more than 55,000 views.

The post was also shared by different users on Facebook, as can be seen here and here.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its high virality and keen public interest in the Palestine conflict and the Gaza peace plan.

A keyword search yielded no news reports from any Pakistani or international media outlets about any such billboard put up in Lahore or anywhere else in the country.

Conducting a reverse image search yielded a news report by US media outlet News Nation updated on June 25, 2025, with the very same billboard, excluding the army chief and PM Shehbaz, with the headline “Billboard in Israel touts Trump, ‘Abraham Alliance’ peace vision”.

As per the report, the billboard was unveiled in Israel on June 25 and featured images of regional leaders in the Middle East, including US President Donald Trump.

It said the display was sponsored by the Coalition for Regional Security and reflected a “growing hope among some Israelis for regional normalisation”. The image used in the billboard with various Muslim leaders and Netanyahu was generated using artificial intelligence, according to text on the banner’s left side.

The original billboard was also covered by multiple other domestic and international news outlets such as Urdu Point, Lorient Today and Middle East Observer.

FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE

The claim that a viral image shows a billboard in Pakistan showing Field Marshal Asim Munir and PM Shehbaz along with Netanyahu and other Muslim leaders, implying the country’s support and recognition of Israel, is false.

The image is doctored and the original old billboard from Israel does not include the army chief and PM Shehbaz.
