CLAIM

FM Ishaq Dar allegedly admits that military personnel were injured during Indian attack on Nur Khan airbase in May 2025 conflict

RATING JUSTIFICATION

The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is false.

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan reviewed the press conference to corroborate the claim.

Multiple Indian accounts and users on social media platform X were sharing a clip since December 27, 2025, alleging that it showed Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar saying that military personnel were injured by Indian strikes on Nur Khan airbase during the May 2025 Pakistan-India conflict. However, the foreign minister said no such thing.

Tensions between India and Pakistan had flared in April 2025 when a deadly terror attack on tourists in occupied Kashmir was blamed on Islamabad, which denied the accusations. The two sides exchanged a series of tit-for-tat blows, culminating in a ceasefire declaration by United States President Donald Trump in May.

HOW IT STARTED

On Dec 27, a pro-Indian X account, who repeatedly shares anti-Pakistan content, shared a post with the following caption: “Pakistan’s Deputy PM and FM Mohammad Ishaq Dar claimed that at around 2:30am on May 10, General Syed Asim Munir called me on a secure line and informed me that India’s ballistic missiles had hit Nur Khan Airbase and other areas, multiple personnel had been injured.”

The post gained over 160,000 views.

The same claim was shared by another Indian propaganda account, based on its past posts, with the following caption: “Pakistan has now begun indirectly admitting losses from Operation Sindoor. Deputy PM and FM Ishaq Dar revealed that at around 2:30am on May 10, Asim Munir called him on a secure line, saying Indian ballistic missiles struck Nur Khan Airbase and other sites, injuring multiple personnel.”

The post gained 71,000 views.

Indian media outlet Wion News also shared the same claim in its news briefings on X and twice on its official YouTube channel.

The X post was captioned: “Pakistan has admitted that Indian drone strikes during Operation Sindoor damaged the Nur Khan airbase and injured military personnel. In 36 hours, at least 80 drones were sent, says Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar.” It gained 98,000 views.

The same claim, along with a video of FM Dar speaking at an annual news briefing, was widely shared by other Indian propaganda accounts as well, as can be seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here; collectively gaining over 25,000 views.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality and keen public interest in the military conflict between India and Pakistan.

Checking the attached portion of FM Dar’s speech showed that he did not make any comment about any military injuries during the Indian attack on Nur Khan airbase, as was being attributed to him.

The transcript of the relevant part is provided below:

“And the next mistake that India made that Nur Khan airbase was attacked again, at around 3:30pm, our plan was that it will start at 4am and it will end by 8:45am, so the process that was authorised by the prime minister after that discussion that had to be implemented, but in my opinion, the drones and missiles, this was a super mistake, so our operation started. When Nur Khan was attacked at around 2:30pm, I was informed that as I had just reached from that meeting, so I came back to the office.

A keyword search conducted to find the complete press conference yielded the video of the speech uploaded to YouTube by state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) on Dec 27, 2025.

The portion in the viral clip begins at the 10:15-minute mark of the complete conference shared by PTV and confirms that the foreign minister did not mention any injuries to military personnel in the Nur Khan airbase attack.

Moreover, further investigation showed that this is not the first time a Pakistani official gave a public briefing on the airbase attack in the May conflict. Spokesmen from the Pakistani military had previously briefed the public about the attack in a press conference on May 9, 2025.

The attack on the airbase has also been previously widely covered in news reports from leading domestic media outlets such as Dawn and Express Tribune.
