RATING JUSTIFICATION

The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is misleading.

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted reverse image searches to trace each original clip.

Multiple accounts and people have been sharing a video since March 8, 2026, on social media platform X, claiming that it shows Iranian strikes on Israel. However, the montage contains clips dating back to October 2024, when Tehran targeted Israeli security sites with ballistic missiles.

Israel and the United States launched joint military strikes on Iran on February 28, 2026, significantly escalating tensions in the Middle East. President Donald Trump confirmed that the US had begun major combat operations, stating that the objective was to eliminate imminent threats from Iran and protect the American people.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — who had led the Islamic Republic for more than three decades — was killed in a strike in the early hours of Feb 28. The attack was carried out by the US and Israel, both of which had previously called for regime change in Tehran.

Iran condemned the strikes as unprovoked and illegal. In response, it launched missile attacks targeting Israel and at least seven other countries, including Gulf states that host US military bases, and vowed retaliation for Khamenei’s assassination.

HOW IT STARTED

On March 8, an X user, who appears to be an Iranian supporter based on his past posts, shared a video montage as proof of Iranian strikes upon Israel, with the following caption: “Truly astonishing — what was once a dream for some has reportedly occurred: Tel Aviv experiencing unprecedented strikes, the likes of which were previously seen only by Muslims in historical conflicts.”

The post garnered more than two million views.

Another user, who appears to be a PML-N supporter, also shared the same video montage with a similar claim, gaining over 18,000 views.

The video montage was shared by various other users on X as well, as seen here, here and here; collectively gaining more than 759,000 views.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated due to the video’s high virality and keen public interest in the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran.

Still frames were extracted from each video used in the montage to conduct reverse image searches that yielded the following results from October 2024. Iran had launched attacks on Israel in October 2024 in retaliation for the latter’s assassinations of the chiefs of Hamas and Hezbollah.

Clip 1

For the first clip from the montage, a video by Turkish broadcaster TRT dated October 1, 2024, was found with the following title: “Israel’s Nevatim Airbase hit by Iranian missile”.

A comparison of screenshots from the viral clip and the TRT video shows a matching building structure present in both.

Clip 2

For the second clip in the montage, it was found in a YouTube video by local American news outlet Koco 5 News, dated October 2, 2024, and titled “Oklahoma expert gives insight on Iran’s missile attacks on Israel”.

A comparison of screenshots shows the same structure and point of view in both videos.

Clip 3

For the third clip in the montage, the video matched an X post, dated October 2, 2024, with the following caption: “Scenes of Iranian Fateh missiles falling on the Tel Nof air base south of Rehovot.”

A comparison of screenshots shows the same vehicle present in both videos, as well as the same explosion and smoke patterns in the background.

Clip 4

For the fourth clip in the montage, the video was found on the official X account of Israel, managed by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs team, dated October 1, 2024.

Once again, a comparison shows the same point of view in both videos with the same objects in the frame.

Clip 5

For the fifth clip in the montage, the same video was found on YouTube, dated October 1, 2024, and titled: “Missile attack on Israel by Iran”.

Comparing screenshots from the videos shows the same pattern of missiles falling.

Clip 6

For the sixth clip in the montage, a video from US news outlet New York Post was found on YouTube, dated October 2, 2024, and titled “Iran launches ballistic missile attack on Israel”.

A side-by-side comparison of screenshots shows the same elements in the foreground and background, such as the vehicle and the house.

Clip 7

For the seventh clip, a screengrab of the video was featured in a news report from British outlet Daily Mail dated October 3, 2024, and titled “Did Israel’s Iron Dome withstand Iran’s rocket salvo?”

The caption of the image in the report said: “Dramatic footage shows missiles exploding near Tel Aviv - as the Iron Dome stood firm.”

Comparing a screenshot with the image once again shows the same camera angle and building structure to the right of the explosions.
