Viral video of Indian news anchor’s outburst over Pakistan’s role in US-Iran ceasefire

To reach this conclusion, the team conducted a forensic analysis and ran the video through AI-detection tools.

Multiple people and accounts, including those that appear to be pro-military, shared a video on April 8, 2026, showing an Indian news anchor losing his temper while discussing Pakistan’s role in the ceasefire between Iran and the United States. However, the video is doctored.

Backchannel diplomatic efforts by Pakistan paid off, as the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire on April 8, 2026, after weeks of escalating hostilities triggered by US-Israeli strikes on February 28, which quickly spiralled into a wider regional conflict.

Pakistan emerged as a central diplomatic actor in securing the ceasefire between the US and Iran, actively facilitating communication between the two sides at a critical stage of the conflict. The effort resulted in a two-week ceasefire, with Pakistan positioning itself as a host for further negotiations.

HOW IT STARTED

On April 8, an X user, who appears to be pro-military based on his past posts, shared a video allegedly showing an Indian media anchor losing his temper with the following caption: “Indian media have gone mad. Indian media is destroying their own channels, fighting with each other and crying hard over the news that Pakistan stopped the Iran–US war. These people wanted to isolate Pakistan, but now are crying after Pakistan’s success.”

The post garnered 508,000 views.

The same video was shared by another user, who also appears to be pro-military based on their past posts, on X with a similar claim with the following caption: “Indian media in chaos. Infighting, outrage, and collapsing narratives as Pakistan’s diplomatic breakthrough takes centre stage. They pushed to isolate Pakistan; now they’re rattled by its success,” accumulating 25,000 views.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its high virality and keen public interest in the US-Israel war with Iran, and Pakistan’s key role in the ceasefire.

Inspecting the video showed multiple visual discrepancies. At the 10-second mark, a white paper thrown by the host abruptly turns black mid-air.

At the 17-second mark, a chair thrown by the host morphs into what appears to be a plastic sheet.

Moreover, the text displayed on the screen throughout the viral video is incoherent when translated, consisting of random letters and words rather than meaningful language — a telltale sign of AI-generated content.

Running the video through AI-forensic tools showed that Undetectable labelled the audio as 95 per cent AI-generated.

Truth Scan labelled it as 96pc AI-generated
