Viral video of Iran’s air strike on Israel destroying two airbases and five military camps

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted a reverse image and keyword search to trace the origin of the viral video and reviewed credible media reports surrounding the viral claim.

Multiple accounts on X, including pro-Iranians based on their past posts, have been sharing a video since June 8, 2026, claiming to show massive Iranian strikes destroying two Israeli airbases and five military camps and eliminating several senior Israeli leaders. However, the video is old from March 2026 and no such targets were destroyed.

The conflict began on February 28, 2026, when the United States and Israel carried out coordinated airstrikes targeting Iran’s military infrastructure, including missile systems and nuclear-related facilities. The strikes marked a significant escalation in tensions between the countries, following a period of heightened regional instability and previous confrontations.

Israel and Iran traded fire on June 8, seriously testing a fragile truce and threatening hopes for a deal to end the Middle East war. The new attacks, including a strike on an Iranian petrochemical complex, came hours after US President Donald Trump called on Israel to refrain from retaliating against Tehran’s missiles.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Tehran retaliated for the strike on its petrochemical complex by attacking similar industrial targets in Israel’s Haifa. The retaliation followed Israel saying it fired on western and central Iran, tit-for-tat action against Tehran’s strikes on June 7 of 11 missiles, all of which were intercepted, with no casualties.

HOW IT STARTED

On June 8, an account that appears to be pro-Iranian, based on its profile picture and past posts, shared a video on X, allegedly showing missiles being intercepted mid-air, with the following caption: “Just in: The deadliest attack on Israel so far. Two airbases and five military camps destroyed, and several top leaders reportedly eliminated. ”

The post gained 178,300 views.

Another pro-Iranian account also shared the same video on June 9, 2026, with similar captions, gaining 23,500 views.

Subsequently, other pro-Iranian users also shared the same video with similar captions, as can be seen here, here, here, here, here, and here, further amplifying the claim.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality and keen public interest surrounding the recent tensions in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

A reverse image search conducted to trace the origin of the viral clip yielded the same video shared on March 2, 2026, by US-based outlet, Drop Site News, on its X account.

A part of the caption says: “Israeli settlers recorded an Iranian ballistic missile making a direct hit on west Jerusalem, as air raid sirens rang out and loud blasts were heard over the city. Israel’s ambulance service said six people were wounded in the strike. A man in his 50s is in moderate condition, and five others were lightly injured. Footage from the scene shows a large crater in a roadway and damage to a nearby vehicle.”

The same video in a similar context was also shared by Jordanian media outlet Roya News English with the caption: “Moment an Iranian missile hit a target in Jerusalem; reports claim it struck a mini-security meeting.”

This indicates that the viral clip predates the current claim by several months and is being recirculated out of context.

A keyword search yielded multiple reports from international media outlets such as TRT World, BBC, and Al Jazeera regarding Iranian missile strikes on Israel in early March 2026.

According to the reports, at least nine people were killed, and dozens were injured after Iranian missile strikes targeted areas in and around Israel, including Beit Shemesh west of Jerusalem. The report described the attack as the deadliest strike inside Israel at that stage of the conflict and documented damage to civilian infrastructure.

However, they did not state that two Israeli airbases and five military camps had been destroyed, nor did they report the elimination of several top Israeli leaders. A keyword search for any such targets destroyed in the June 8 attacks also did not yield any results.

The video is from March 2026 of an Iranian retaliatory attack on West Jerusalem in Israel.
