Several people on multiple social media platforms shared a video on December 7, 2025, that allegedly showed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi making remarks about Imran and the military spokesperson. However, the video is doctored through AI.

In a blistering press conference on Dec 6, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry had assailed Imran for creating and spreading an “anti-army” rhetoric, stating that such narratives were now out of the realm of politics and had become a “national security threat”.

The KP chief minister had responded to the military spokesperson’s remarks in a large Peshawar protest rally on Dec 7. Through a resolution adopted at the rally, the PTI demanded an apology for what it called derogatory language used against its patron-in-chief and accountability of those responsible to prevent such statements in future.

HOW IT STARTED

On Dec 7, an X account that appears to be a PML-N supporter based on its previous posts, shared a clip of CM Afridi.

The caption reads: “DG ISPR, sir, you called Imran Khan a dog. We are the lovers of Imran, even the street dog of our beloved’s alley is dearer to us than our own parents, Sohail Afridi.”

The post gained over 85,000 views.

The transcript of the video is provided below:

“ISPR sahab, you called Imran Khan a dog. A dog is an innocent creature. For Imran Khan, I would give my life. We are people who love Imran. Even a dog that walks in the beloved’s street becomes dearer to us than our own parents. You call my leader a dog, it will only make us love him more.”

The same video with a similar claim was shared by multiple PML-N supporters on X, as can be seen here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here, collectively gaining over 38,000 views.

The same video with a similar caption was also shared on Facebook by a PML-N supporter. His post gained 85,000 views.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality and keen public interest in the relations between the PTI and the military after the DG ISPR’s press conference.

The video shows a distinct lack of background noise, chatter and noise from the people at the rally with CM Afridi speaking in a loud and clear voice — unlike the ambient background noise that is usually present in videos of protest or rally speeches. Furthermore, the viral clip also cuts away to people cheering, but no sound can be heard from them.

Some users in the comments section noted that it might be an AI-generated video.

Performing a reverse image search to corroborate the matter and trace the original address yielded a YouTube video uploaded on Dec 7, 2025, by Imran Khan’s official channel.

The video was titled: “CM KP Sohail Afridi powerful address | PTI power show in Peshawar”.

At the 2:25-minute mark of the video, the man standing beside the chief minister can be seen making the same gesture as in the viral clip, confirming that the latter was taken from the former.

Checking the full video reveals that the chief minister is making completely different remarks than the viral clip.

He criticised the comments made against Imran by the DG ISPR and government officials in their press conferences. At no point did he utter any remarks as those shown in the viral clip.

FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE

The claim that a viral video shows KP CM Sohail Afridi making certain remarks about Imran Khan and the DG ISPR is false.

The clip is doctored and has been dubbed over through AI-generated audio.
