Multiple Iranian and pro-Palestinian users on social media platform X shared a video on March 9, 2026, claiming to show Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house set ablaze after an Iranian strike targeted it. However, the clip shows a blaze in Galloway, New Jersey, and is unlinked to the ongoing US-Israel war with Iran.
Israel and the United States launched joint military strikes on Iran on February 28, 2026, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and other top officials. Tehran responded by launching strikes on seven Gulf states, including Israel.
As the war entered its 10th day on Monday, there has been no letup in attacks by Israel, Iran or the US, with explosions reported in Qom and Tehran, hours after Israeli attacks on oil facilities caused toxic smoke across the Iranian capital. On the other hand, Iran’s Assembly of Experts has named Mojtaba Khamenei to replace his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as the country’s new supreme leader.

METHODOLOGY
A fact-check was initiated due to the video’s high virality and keen public interest in the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran.
A reverse image search yielded a Facebook post shared on February 9, 2026, before the US-Israel war with Iran commenced. The video shows the same visuals with the following caption: “Happening Now in Galloway 2/3”.
When the team conducted a keyword search, it yielded a February 10, 2026, news report by local American media outlet Breaking AC.com. According to the news report, a fire broke out in Galloway, a township in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States.
It reported that all residents were evacuated safely and no injuries were reported, while the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
Moreover, a search to check if any Israeli or international media outlets had reported a fire at Netanyahu’s house did not produce any results.
FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE
The claim that a viral video shows Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s house on fire is false.
