RATING JUSTIFICATION

The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is false.

To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan conducted a reverse image search and a keyword search to trace the original source.

Several pro-PTI accounts were sharing a video on social media platform X since October 23, 2026, allegedly showing Pakistani actor Shaan Shahid distributing pamphlets for donations to Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Karachi. However, the video is old, from 2017.

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC), founded by Imran Khan, opened in 1994 as Pakistan’s first dedicated cancer hospital. Since then, it has worked to improve access to cancer treatment, education and research. Its network includes hospitals in Lahore and Peshawar, four walk-in clinics, three diagnostic centres and more than 190 laboratory collection centres.

The Shaukat Khanum Trust commenced construction of Pakistan’s third and largest SKMCH&RC in Karachi in September 2020. The hospital is nearing completion and will be twice the size of the Lahore facility at full capacity. Equipment installation and staff recruitment are underway, with the hospital scheduled to open on December 29, 2026.

Several prominent Pakistani celebrities, including Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, Mahira Khan and Shehzad Roy, have supported Shaukat Khanum’s fundraising campaigns, encouraging public donations for its cancer-care services and Karachi hospital project.

HOW IT STARTED

On Oct 23, a pro-PTI account, based on its past posts, shared a video on X with the caption: “Film actor Shaan Shahid is distributing pamphlets for Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Karachi, to raise donations.”

The post gained 110,536 views.

Former Sindh governor and a leader of Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan, Mohammad Zubair, shared the same video on X with the caption: “Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Karachi is another landmark achievement initiated by Imran Khan. It is planned to open at the end of December. One of Pakistan’s top actors, Shaan Shahid, is personally in the field to raise donations for this great cause.”

The post gained 21,846 views.

Another account shared the same video with a similar caption, gaining 36,186 views.

The same claim was also shared by other pro-PTI accounts, as can be seen here, here, here, here, and here.

Digital news outlet Ummat News also shared the same video in a news article with similar context.

Mainstream news channel Public News also shared the same video on its official Facebook account.

METHODOLOGY

A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its high virality and keen public interest in Shaukat Khanum Hospital, which is currently in its final stages and scheduled for a December inauguration.

A keyword search was conducted to determine whether credible mainstream media outlets had reported on such a video or claim, but found nothing.

A subsequent keyword search on Instagram using relevant keywords such as “Shan Shahid”, “pamphlet” yielded a video published by FHM Pakistan on August 18, 2017.

The video appears to show the same footage.

The caption of the post read, “Shaan Shahid spotted with Ikram ul Haque asking for ‘Jinnah ka Pakistan’. Shaan helps him spread the message of love around.”

The caption made no mention of Shaukat Khanum Hospital, pamphlets or donations. The video was posted in 2017, years before recent shares in October 2026, and its original context was unrelated to the hospital.

A TikTok fan account, “Shaan Is King,” also shared the same video on September 21, 2026, without a caption, which also shows that the video is old.

FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE

The claim that a viral video shows actor Shaan Shahid distributing pamphlets to raise donations for Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Karachi, is false.

The footage is from 2017 and has no connection to Shaukat Khanum Hospital or any donation drive.
