RATING JUSTIFICATION
The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is false.
To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan observed the video critically and analysed it using AI-detection tools.
Multiple users on social media platforms X and Facebook were sharing a video since February 2, 2026, allegedly showing a female fighter of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) militant group expressing regret for her involvement in a recent spate of attacks. However, the video is AI-generated.
Several coordinated terrorist attacks were staged across Balochistan last week. According to officials, militants, described by the state as part of “Fitna-al-Hindustan”, targeted security and government installations in over 10 cities, including through suicide attacks involving female bombers. The violence left 22 security personnel martyred and 36 civilians dead, after which forces launched extensive cordon-and-sweep operations.
The number of terrorists killed in clearance operations across the province has risen to 197 as of Feb 4, as security forces continue clearance operations in Nushki district and other parts of the province.
HOW IT STARTED
On Feb 2, a video was shared on X by an account that shared posts supporting the state and against Baloch rights figures and movements, allegedly showing a female BLA fighter saying she is ashamed of the Baloch nation and stating that she was in the custody of Frontier Corps Balochistan.
The video also showed another clip of the female fighter in a blue and red dress holding a gun.
The post’s caption read: “Breaking: The biggest news has emerged from Balochistan. The viral video has caused a sensation. Darusham Baloch is alive and currently in the custody of FC Balochistan. Darusham said, ‘I am ashamed before the Baloch nation. I was blackmailed by Bashir Zaib.”
The post gained more than 374,000 views.
The clip with a similar caption was also shared by other X and Facebook users, as can be seen here, here, here, here, here, here and here.
METHODOLOGY
A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality and keen public interest in the situation in Balochistan following the recent attacks.
A reverse image search conducted on keyframes from the viral video did not yield any credible media reports that had published the clip or reported on it.
A visual analysis of the video revealed multiple inconsistencies. The woman appears to be seated on a chair, but the positioning of her legs is unnatural, with one leg appearing noticeably shorter than the other — an anomaly commonly observed in AI-generated visuals.

Further discrepancies were noted in facial movements. The lip movements did not consistently align with the audio, and in several instances, the mouth continued moving even when the audio paused. Additionally, the subject blinked irregularly, alternating between unusually long gaps and sudden, rapid blinking, both recognised indicators of synthetic media.
The audio itself also raised issues as the voice lacked natural breathing patterns and emotional variation. It also sounded as though a script was being read rather than spoken organically, a characteristic frequently associated with AI-generated or voice-cloned content.
The video was further analysed using AI-detection tools, including Video.attestiv and Hive Moderation. Video.attestiv labelled the clip as AI-generated content with an 86 per cent suspicion rate, while Hive Moderation flagged it with a 99pc likelihood of being AI-generated content.

The video was also checked for SynthID, a digital watermark embedded in content generated using Google’s AI tools, through Gemini. The analysis detected the watermark throughout the footage, indicating that the visuals were either edited or generated using Google AI.

The woman was also the subject of other posts that were related to her alleged death.
Two versions of an image were circulated by users on X. One version showed a woman described as a female BLA fighter lying on the ground with visible blood around her head and face while wearing the same red and blue dress as the authentic video.
In the second version, the same woman was shown lying on the ground without any visible blood or injuries.
Both images were analysed using AI-detection tools to determine their authenticity. The tools showed that the image showing visible blood was flagged as likely being real, while the bloodless version was AI-generated.

Notably, the bloody image was shared by pro-military, pro-Baloch and other accounts, as can be seen here, here and here.
The same bloodied image was also used in a video later shared by the same original account that had shared the AI-generated video as part of a compilation showing the consequences for the terrorists involved in the attacks.
FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE
