Viral video of Pakistan Army soldiers dragging woman is AI-generated
CLAIM
Viral video of Pakistan Army soldiers dragging a woman
Rating Justification
The iVerify Pakistan team investigated this content and determined that it is false.
To reach this conclusion, iVerify Pakistan reviewed the video for visual inconsistencies and conducted a forensic analysis to assess its authenticity.
Multiple accounts on social media platform X shared a video since November 17, 2025, claiming that it shows Pakistan Army soldiers dragging a woman with her hands tied to her back. However, the video is AI-generated.
HOW IT STARTED
On Nov 18, an account that appears to be pro-Afghan based on its past posts shared a video showing Pakistan Army soldiers dragging a woman with her hands tied to her back.
The caption read: “This video is neither of the Uighurs nor of East Turkestan nor of Sudan, but rather of the mercenary army of Pakistan that has tied the hands of a Muslim oppressed sister, which the scholars around Pakistan call the pure army. Some will now say that the video is fake, even though this one was captured by a Baloch sister, the Baloch have published this video.”
Other users on X, including an Indian account, also shared the video and claim, as seen here, here and here, amassing over 30,000 views.
Some users did point out that the video appears to be AI-generated while others shared it as true, with the Nov 18 post by the pro-Afghan account gaining around 154,900 views.
METHODOLOGY
A fact-check was initiated to determine the veracity of the claim due to its virality and keen public concern in the matter.
Observing the video showed various visual inconsistencies typical of visuals generated through artificial intelligence.
The text on the left service tag changes from ‘ARMY’ to ‘BRMY’ at the three-second mark in the clip, a tell-tale sign consistent in videos generated using AI.
It can also be seen that hands of the woman in the video seem to be melding and joint together with the hands of the soldier holding her.
Thirdly, the flag patches of the soldiers in the video all display inconsistencies from the official Pakistani flag, with the person in the foreground having the right colours but facing the wrong direction, while the flag patch of the soldier beside him is missing the white part of the flag.
Lastly, the soldier in the background can be seen holding a gun without an ammo magazine.

Analysing the video through forensic tools to detect any AI manipulation showed that Hive Moderation detected 96.6 per cent deepfake content in the clip, while Attestive gave it a technical suspicion rating of 77pc.

A reverse image search showed that the video was initially posted on Nov 17 by a Pakistani user on X, who is known for sharing AI-generated visuals. In the caption of the post, the user themselves explicitly stated that the footage was AI-generated.
Contacted for further comment about the uniforms seen in the video, both a retired military officer and Dawn.com news editor Ali Osman confirmed that they were not consistent with the actual attire of the army.
They added that the camouflage, half sleeves and insignias did not match the style of the official uniforms of soldiers.
They said that Pakistan Army soldiers do not wear half sleeves, while the placement of the insignias is also wrong, since the flag patch should be on the left shoulder instead of the right, as in the video.
They also said that the service tag should say “PAK ARMY” instead of “ARMY”. Lastly, they pointed to the missing rank insignia on the front of the uniform that shows the rank of the soldier or army member.
FACT-CHECK STATUS: FALSE
The claim that a viral video shows Pakistan Army soldiers dragging a woman is false.
The video is AI-generated.
